This art quilt depicts a Heron as it is taking flight over the water at sunset.  The beautiful sunset backlit the feathers on the wings. The Heron is a bird of great spiritual meaning, often associated with spirituality and wisdom.   Luckily I carry my cell phone everywhere so I have a camera ready to capture images I find beautiful. I have millions of pictures from my local neighborhood flowers to beautiful landscapes of Europe and my grand adventures with my family. I have millions of projects in my mind just waiting to be created.

Batik cotton materials are known for their vibrant colors and I use them exclusively in my quilting artwork. Small pieces are carefully cut and rough edge appliquéd to create a painting in the material. I then layer the pieced top with cotton batting and a coordinating material on the back and free motion quilt the piece together, adding a pocket along the top edge in the back to insert a dowel (NOT included) to hang the quilt for your viewing pleasure.
