This art quilt depicts a close-up of a beautiful poinsettia flower and leaves that are everywhere during the holidays. I love the bright reds and deep maroons with various shades of green these flowers display. Luckily I carry my cell phone everywhere so I have a camera ready to capture images I find beautiful. I have millions of pictures from my local neighborhood flowers to beautiful landscapes of Europe and my grand adventures with my family. I have millions of projects in my mind just waiting to be created.

Like alcohol inks on glass, batik cotton materials are known for their vibrant colors and I use them almost exclusively in my quilting artwork. Small pieces are carefully cut and rough edge appliquéd to create a painting in the material. I then layer the pieced top with cotton batting and a coordinating material on the back and free motion quilt the piece together, adding a pocket along the top edge in the back to insert a dowel (NOT included) to hang the quilt for your viewing pleasure.
