Sunflower on a Pumpkin Art Quilt

This quilt depicts a close-up image of a sunflower lying atop a big orange pumpkin. Bright yellows and golds with deep brown sunflower petals and emerald and forest green leaves lie atop a pumpkin of bright and burnt oranges to deep purples with brown tones of the stem twisting on top.  Indigo blue border finishes off this quilt that is sure to be a treasure for years to come.

Fall is my favorite time of the year! As the nights get longer and the days get a bit cooler I long to decorate and bring out the pumpkins. I was inspired by a photo of this gorgeous sunflower lying atop a pumpkin and wanted to try my hand at fabric collage. I am obsessed with batik material and have a stash in my studio of every color in the rainbow. I am drawn to their bold colors. The center of the sunflower is a collage of browns and golds with vibrant yellows and oranges and purples create the rest of the petals and pumpkin. The entire scene is quilted in the free motion quilting style to create texture. I think the experiment was a success. Please check out my other listings to see what else I have been up to.
